Quotes

“You think your boss is tough... this was my boss, CNN President Burt Reinhardt... packing his combat camera and his colt 45 in the Pacific in WW2. Mr. Reinhardt was truly a bad-ass. I am so very, very honored to have worked with him and for him.”
- Christopher Turner
“One day he brought me into his office just as I was about to leave Atlanta. And he showed me a picture. I realized there and then that this wasn't just some executive in a suit, this is a man who had been there. This is a man who was one of us!”
- Christiane Amanpour

"CNN would not exist without Burt.”
- Ted Turner

"There certainly is no shortage of stories and memories of Burt whose financial acumen literally SAVED the network after Reese left. He is not only a gentleman...fine and decent...but also has a mischievous sense of humor (although I found it quite frustrating at the time).
In the early days Burt's office had a wall of tv monitors and a chair in front of his desk that was EXTREMELY low so he could look down upon you (a classic technique) but what made Burt a hoot when I went to to talk money was one of the televisions was blaring and of course Burt spoke so softly I could barely hear him. Finally, I asked if I could turn down the sound, which I did. What I didn't know was Burt was holding and hiding a remote control UNDER his desk and a few moments later the tv's volume increased dramatically. I again walked to the wall and lowered the volume. As I was making my case for a raise, the volume again became so loud it was practically off the needle. After turning it down again, Burt looked me straight in the eye and said, "Why should I pay more money to a guy who can't even operate a television set?" But he did and I owe him a lot. In fact, we all do."
